Abstract
A damage analysis does not only aim at clearly identifying those responsible for the damage. As a matter of act, a successful analysis may also provide clues for improvements in terms of construction, production techniques and used materials. Typical, frequently occuring damage can be fought efficiently. This is how important stimuli can be produced to invest efforts in preventive maintenance, quality assurance, in testing systems and technical regulations in order to enhance the reliability and safety of products in the long run. This is why damage analyses will continue to take an important rank in the catalogue of practicable safety measures.
