Abstract
After revision by the expert committee ?Workshop equipment? of the accident insurance institutions, the information ZH 1/571 originally elaborated for floors at workplaces with an increased slipping risk is now also covering working areas where the slipping risk is at a normal level. The assessment of floor coverings used for this kind of workplaces is carried out in a laboratory test, the so-called walk test according to ZH 1/571. As a matter of fact, there is a proven test method for determining the slip-resistance of floor coverings before they are laid. Whether the anti-slip properties of a floor alter as a function of the workplace conditions can only be checked by means of mobile measuring devices. The Schuster-apparatus, which is the most often used mobile device, does not provide reliable measuring results which do not permit any conclusion with regard to slip-resistance.
