Abstract
The effect of several year?s heat radiation may result in an eye lens opacity. This lesion is recognized in the regulation on occupational diseases (no. 2401) as ?cataract due to heat radiation?. At present, it rarely occurs, however. The BIA has measured employee?s exposure to heat radiation in a number of glass blowing and glass processing enterprises. These measurements are described. Measuring results are related to notified cases of occupational diseases. As a consequence of these controls, criteria are suggested to assess the risk of employees caused by the influence of heat radiation exposure.
