Abstract
At many workplaces the loading of the musculoskeletal system due to the manual handling of loads, awkward postures or repetitive movements can be commonly observed. The German institutions for statutory accident insurance and prevention (BG) are using a measuring system known as CUELA (computer-assisted recording and long-term analysis of musculoskeletal load) as a means of quantifying the load focuses even in complex work processes and to check the effectiveness of existing measures to improve the ergonomics of the work place. In the article examples of the ergonomic design of grinding workplaces in a shipyard, sewing workplaces and crane operator workplaces are given.
