Abstract
In machine tools both water miscible and neat cutting fluids are applied. Furthermore, in recent times minimal quantity lubricants are in use. In order to characterize the emissions in the air exhausted from machine tools extensive measurements were performed during several research projects. In addition to the metalworking fluids (MWFs) mass concentration the size distribution of the particle number concentration in the range of few nanometers up to 10 µm was determined. For all MWFs mentioned above ultrafine particles were detected in the raw gas air flow. This article presents the results of the measurements.
