Abstract

Glare from natural and artificial light sources presents a major hazard for traffic and transport within plants and on the public highway. The physiological and psychological effects of glare may cause serious accidents. Owing to its nature, glare cannot be fully avoided. The article provides an introduction to the subject of glare, states examples of typical glare situations, and identifies the resulting hazards. Particular attention is paid to the preventive measures for hazard reduction.
