Abstract

Preseoparators serve to collect fine dust on membrane filters. After incineration of filter material and preparation of the non-burned residue by means of hydrochloric acid, the remaining substance is applied, as a sufficiently thin layer, on a silver filter. The quartz concentration is then determined using on x-ray diffractometer following the method of external standard. As a result of a modification of the x-ray diffractometric method (thin layer method) it is now possible to carry out a quartz analysis by only one single intensity measurement. This method can be used for determining fine dust concentrations of quartz in the workplace atmosphere.
