Abstract
Since laboratories and their analysis methods are having to satisfy increasingly strict quality requirements, there is a growing demand for methods for external quality control. Participation in round robin tests is popular way of checking the quality of one's own measurement results and demonstrating this to the outside world. The Institute for Occupational Safety and Health of the German Accident Insurance (IFA) has been an established provider of international interlaboratory tests for many years. These include interlaboratory tests for solvents, volatile inorganic acids, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and aldehydes with and without internal sampling, and round robin tests for non-volatile inorganic acids and metals solely without internal sampling. In 2016, for the interlaboratory testing of metals, filters loaded with metal oxide particles are being sent out to participants for the first time. A trial test carried out in this area in 2015 showed promising results.
