Kurzfassung
Falls caused by tripping, slipping and missteps are an accident hotspot in both the professional and private environment. In addition to structural defects such as slippery floors or tripping hazards, the causes are often found in objects lying around and dirt, which could be avoided. Order and cleanliness are also well-known occupational safety measures, but they do not work across the board. In the area of occupational safety and health (OSH), employees can be sensitized to hazards and their consequences in a professional context and motivated to behave in a safe manner. The project "BGHW Warehouse Simulation" packs an old topic into new technologies - virtual reality (VR) - to reawaken interest in the problem. The aim is that the hazard is eliminated directly by the employee or at least a warning is pronounced, or a report is sent to the superior. Trainers support the application in supervised discussions. The development of an instructional application is presented following a structural design approach. The design of the VR technology considers the Warehouse Simulation as an initial approach with more to come in different application domains. Experiences from the use of the simulator refer to different stakeholders and are presented and discussed. Considerations for further revisions are summarized.
